Kale – How to Sneak KALE Into Your Diet

Kale: The Superfood That Should Be In Your Kitchen

Why Kale Is So Great For You!

Kale is one of the most amazing superfoods out there because it’s just so good for you!  I mentioned in a previous post that I like to put kale in my smoothies, but then realized that most people haven’t even heard of it!   In my household I just started introducing it, but now it’s permanently on our shopping list because it’s just that good.  One cup of kale has only 36 calories, 5 grams of fiber and 0 grams of fat, so it’s an amazingly nutritionally dense food while being easy on your caloric intake.  It’s extremely high in Vitamins A, C, and K, all of which help lower your chances of getting cancer because it’s also filled with antioxidants to help fight off free radicals!

If you don’t like the taste of kale, here’s some ways to sneak it into your diet;

  • Hide it in your smoothie
  • Chop it up and put it into your salad
  • Add it to soups, stews, and pasta sauce
  • Saute it with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, garlic, lemon juice, and salt and pepper

My favorite is to make Kale Chips by tearing up pieces of Kale, drizzling them with olive oil, and shaking that up in a bag to evenly coat the Kale.  Then I put them on a baking sheet lined with foil and baking them for ten minutes at 350.  You don’t want them to turn brown though, because then they don’t taste good!  After they’re baked, I season them with paprika, salt, and pepper, for a healthy alternative to potato chips!
